Diplomatic Security Service (DSS) is the principal security and law enforcement agency of the State Department, charged with a mission of protecting diplomatic assets, personnel, and information, and to combat visa and passport fraud. I helped to establish the first Overseas Criminal Investigations Unit (OCIU) for the U.S. Embassy for Spain and Andorra. Based in Madrid, we’ve worked with other US federal agencies and local entities to target and disrupt terrorists, criminals, and transnational criminal organizations. Additionally, I was responsible for responding to incidents, developing standardized strategies, policies, procedures, and best practices for our securities programs, as well as providing investigative support to Regional Security Offices.

ABOUT CHRIS HARDY
Multifaceted Law Enforcement, Diplomatic Security, and Intelligence Professional with 25 years of experience working alongside of government agencies and clients including US Federal Agencies, military forces, and foreign law enforcement entities to provide strategic planning, develop regional and global security plans, investigations, and overcoming complex international security threats. Most recently, I’ve worked as the Lead Special Agent for the Overseas Criminal Investigations Unit at the US Embassy for Spain and Andorra. Where I’ve helped to establish the first OCIU in the region. This work was typically nested within the Diplomatic Security’s global investigative priorities and regional security initiatives. Additionally, I’d regularly work with local national police forces to target and disrupt terrorists, criminals, and transnational criminal organizations that attempt to exploit U.S. travel and identity documents. Previously, I’ve also worked alongside of private business and enterprises within the aerospace and defense industry. I’m a US Army veteran myself, and I have multiple years of direct experience leading teams conducting intelligence analysis and human intelligence (HUMINT) abroad. While it may go without saying, my line of work is a team sport and I take this to heart in all that I do. I believe deeply in building, coaching, mentoring, and leading teams to accomplish the mission and support each other’s as necessary. Finally, I’m pursuing a pivot in my career. I am interested in leveraging my years of experiences in the public sector to expand and support private sector enterprises and multinational companies with their strategic planning, corporate counterintelligence efforts, as well as supporting their physical security, hazard, and risk mitigation planning initiatives.
