In my capacity as Head of Costing for Transformation, Technology, Analytics & Engagement, I am accountable for overseeing the implementation of the 5 and 10 year forward view, working closely with internal and external influencers to drive the smooth uptake of the transformation programme. My remit involves calculating the costs of treatment per patient / hospital to reduce costs and drive efficiencies, developing business cases and initiation reports for presentation to senior executives, and attending cross-divisional meetings to align workloads. In addition, I am responsible for leading a multidisciplinary team of 20, with 4 direct reports, over multiple sites across England, to deliver the project involving the collection of all secondary care costs within the NHS. Most notably, I have embedded a culture focused on the utilisation of financial information to bring in wider data sources and information, to create a bigger picture for executive and clinical engagement. I was also instrumental in leading the Integrated Care System (ICS) pilot projects to collate patient-level information from across all healthcare settings, and leading a team to reinvent the way cost transformation programme data was collected which resulted in better utilisation by organisations and improved decision making. I introduced new tools and technologies to improve collection and quality assurance of data, led the ‘Case for Change version 2’ initiative to utilise the current CTP to identify real benefits, and championed key ED & I initiatives across the team and directorate. Furthermore, I was selected to present the 5-year forward view at the Royal College of Physicians in 2017, and am regarded as one of the leading experts in NHS costing in the UK with regular requests to contribute to papers and articles on the topic.
