ABOUT HANUMANT PURI

I’m a second-year Law student at Durham University with academic and personal interests in public law, social policy, and politics. I see the law not only as a profession but as a transformative tool — one that can hold power accountable, protect rights, and drive meaningful social change. My experience bridges law, policy, and media. I have interned with Rajkotia Associates Advocates, gaining exposure to litigation and family law practice, and with the Indian National Congress’s Social Media & Digital Platforms Department, where I carried out research-intensive work analysing legislation and written responses in Parliament. I was also featured as a panelist on multiple episodes of India Today’s newly launched show Take That, where young Indians go head-to-head with senior political leaders on pressing national issues. At Durham, I am actively involved in student media and welfare. I serve as Head of Welfare for PalTV, the UK’s Student Broadcaster of the Year since 2022, and as an Editor for Cuth’s Journalism. Previously, I wrote for the Halo Project and held the role of Publicity Officer for the St. Cuthbert’s Society Environmental Committee. I also regularly attend events hosted by the Durham Union, an organisation I value for its role in fostering debate and critical thought. These experiences have equipped me with skills in legal research, drafting, case and data analysis, critical writing, communication, and efficiency under pressure. Looking ahead, I plan to pursue a career at the intersection of law and public policy, with a focus on social justice, human rights, and legislative reform. As Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said: “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” This conviction continues to guide my studies, my work, and the career I am building.
