ABOUT JOHANN HANSI HANSMANN
Dr. Johann \"Hansi\" Hansmann is one of Austria’s most renowned business angels - and the only one to have received a lifetime achievement award for his contributions to the startup ecosystem. A former pharmaceutical executive turned entrepreneur, Hansi successfully exited his own pharma company in Spain in 2003. Since then, he has become a central figure in Europe’s early-stage investment landscape. Named Best European Early Stage Investor by EBAN in 2016, he also served as President of the Austrian Angel Investors Association until 2021. Based in Vienna, Hansi is just as passionate about mountain biking as he is about startups. His group has made over 100 direct investments and currently maintains stakes in more than 50 active companies, alongside over 20 limited partner (LP) positions in venture capital funds. With a sector-agnostic, Europe-focused strategy, they typically invest at the pre-seed stage and take on active lead roles - supporting portfolio companies across all phases of growth. Notable exits where they led investments include Runtastic, Shpock, MySugr, Durchblicker and Busuu. The current portfolio includes companies like Tractive, Journi, haelsi, Storebox, Anyline, Helloagain, Mimo, Credi2 and many others. Today, the Hans(wo)men Group is evolving into a modern entrepreneurial family office, with a diversified portfolio spanning venture capital, real estate, and both private and public equity. It also actively engages in philanthropic initiatives focused on entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial education, climate change, and the advancement of gender equality. If you want us on board as strong partners, please send your pitch deck to p••••@hansmengroup.com. Please do not contact Hansi directly — he won’t be able to respond to individual requests.\"People rarely succeed unless they have fun in what they are doing\"
