ABOUT HANS C.

I am currently the Chief Medical Officer for Virginia Mason Franciscan Health / CommonSpirit Pacific North West. My areas of expertise include: quality & safety, patient & clinician experience, performance improvement, engagement, recruitment & retention, and mentoring. With more than 10 years of senior C-suite experience in multihospital health systems and academic centers, I am passionate about delivering high-quality, patient-centered, and cost-effective care to diverse communities. I have a proven track record of driving clinical excellence, innovation, and transformation across various domains, including population health, pharmacy services, behavioral health, graduate medical education, and strategic growth and development. Most recently, as the Executive Vice President and Chief Clinical Officer & Physician Executive at Catholic Health, I led the clinical operations and strategic initiatives of a nonprofit faith-based health system in Western New York. I was also the President of Trinity WNY PC, one of the largest medical groups in the WNY region, where I oversee the performance and integration of more than 450 providers. Prior to this leadership position, I was Associate Chief Quality Officer at Geisinger Health System and Chief Quality Officer at Upstate Medical University, both large multi-hospital academic health systems. As a Certified Physician Executive, I have advanced skills and knowledge in health care administration, management, negotiation, and ethics.
