ABOUT HANNA TOTH

I am a Predoctoral Fellow at CeMM, compeleting a PhD at the Medical University of Vienna and my project is about endothelial cell senescence. I did a Biomedical Science Masters by Research studying at Lancaster University. During my masters, I worked on a research project about the cell cycle protein CIZ1, investigating its involvement in DNA repair. During my Bachelors other than cell biology I was also interested in plant science, genetics and parasitology. The key modules from my Bachelors course:GeneticsBiotechnologyProtein BiochemistryImpact of MicrobesGlobal Change BiologyCell BiologyBiochemical TechniquesDNA TechnologyMicrobiological TechniquesEnvironmental Plant BiologyI have had various research projects throught my time at university, which inspired me to continue to work in research. I completed an internship during the summer vacation between my second and third years of my Bachelors, in which I contributed in work on the heat shock response of trypanosomes. I am very interested in looking into different areas of Biology to explore what I really want to work on in the future. Previously I have been participating in the Gatsby Plant Science Summer School, where I had the chance to learn a lot more about plant science. My undergraduate research project was also focused on plants, specifically on crops and their response to climate change. I researched the thermal tolerance of CA1Pase, an enzyme which is important in Rubisco regulation.
