Previously part of Engagement & Implementation, Improvement Directorate - 06/2021-10/2021 • Provide expert strategic communications and engagement advice to colleagues across the former Improvement Directorate and now wider Transformation Directorate • Produce a range of high-quality communications materials, tailored to different audiences in line with objectives • Devise and implement communications plans which land with impact and support health improvement programme objectives, reaching the right audiences through the best channels, whilst identifying and mitigating reputational risk • As part of the transition to the Transformation Directorate, lead on developing and producing external communications (Senior Leadership updates and bulletin copy), deliver a strategic plan to diversify audiences and drive national engagement with the Transformation agenda • Support the development of responses to parliamentary, freedom of information, media and other ad hoc requests relating to Improvement and wider Transformation business • Proactively identify opportunities to promote Improvement and wider Transformation business, both internally and externally • Support the planning and delivery of in-person and online events • Work closely with members of the central and regional communications teams, tapping into their expertise and making use of corporate communications channels, providing briefings around improvement and wider transformation work • Represent the team at organisational and stakeholder communications meetings and champion the Improvement and wider Transformation agenda • Continuously evaluate work to identify areas of success, and areas for improvement • Be a key member of the team as well as supporting communications and effective stakeholder engagement, both internally and externally.

Enthusiastic Strategic Communications & Engagement Officer at NHS England and NHS Improvement, and an elected Councillor with a First Class Honours Degree in Politics. Experienced and trained in a multitude of areas, including strategic communications and engagement; public and parliamentary affairs; charity and political campaigns; policy research; policy and constituency casework; media handling and social media; event planning; project management; public speaking; being filmed and photographed for TV advertising/campaigns; and, working with people from all walks of life. Special interests include health; equality, diversity and inclusion (particular expertise in health conditions/long-term health conditions and disabilities); animal welfare; climate change/environment; international aid; international relations; technology; and food standards.
