About Hannah Hansen

I am a Landscape Designer and Engineer-in-Training passionate about ecological restoration and reparative justice, especially as related to river and stream restoration and supporting the goals of Indigenous communities. I am currently practicing in the San Francisco Bay Area and am happy to be employed with Restoration Design Group in West Berkeley. I recently graduated from the College of Environmental Design at the University of California Berkeley with a Masters Degree in Landscape Architecture & Environmental Planning and concentration in river restoration and geographic information systems (GIS). I obtained my Bachelors in Civil Engineering with a concentration in Sustainability from Arizona State University in 2017 and was previously employed as a project engineer at DPR Construction. My interests lie at the intersection of hydrology, geomorphology, ecology, and engineering for environmental equity and reparative justice. At UC Berkeley, I am grateful to have worked with Matt Kondolf on projects focused on flooding, restoration, and social connectivity to rivers, and with Danika Cooper on drawing and mapping as reparative tools in landscape design and representation. I am eager to work on projects that center Indigenous voices and support Tribal sovereignty. I am always learning how to be a better ally.    Drafting construction documents in AutoCAD, producing graphic materials, producing maps in GIS, contributing to hydraulic modeling efforts, and conducting occasional outdoor field work. Supporting RDG’s efforts to bring projects from conceptual design to construction documentation, construction, and post-project monitoring. This includes field work in and along creeks (e.g, topographic and vegetative surveys, pebble counts), helping with drafting construction documents, conducting site assessments in the field, preparing flood frequency curves, sizing rock treatments, drafting design basis memos, and producing digital and/or freehand graphic illustrations and maps.
