ABOUT HANNAH MURRILL MOORE

What is your ikigai? Your reason for being? The other day, during a fantastic Women in Leadership conference, I pinpointed my ikigai. It is a Japanese concept which combines the things that you love, the things that you are good at, the things that you can be paid for and the things that the world needs. In other words - passion, profession, vocation and mission which all together becomes your purpose. To find this, which can take years, can be your reason to get up in the morning and to find your value. It is pretty deep and challenging stuff. My sister could have told me my ikigai years ago. She loves to tell me how, as a child of 6 years old, I insisted on teaching her at every moment. I apparently even set up a course around the garden to teach her how to jump - which she said had a structured, incremental level approach - and she says that the glee I had when I saw her improve spurred her 3 year old self on and boosted her. She is now a champion jumper.(OK that last bit is not so true, but I believe I gave her the potential to be!)And that is it. My ikigai. Using my enthusiasm and passion to instil an intrigue and a want to develop in those around me.It covers all the ikigai bases - I love it, I am good at it intrinsically, I can get paid for it and lastly, if I can help someone to boost their morale or identify their reason for being that brings them to a good mindset (and potentially even mind frame) then, in my opinion, the world needs it.My ikigai. Helping others find theirs.
