ABOUT HANNAH K.
I am an art therapist and mental health counselor with Advantage Behavioral Health and Victory Bay. I have witnessed the healing and growth capabilities of the creative process and want to share this insight with others. I completed a Master’s in Mental Health Counseling: Art Therapy Track at the University of Indianapolis where I practiced my skills in art therapy and counseling. I possess many years of experience in the service industry in diverse settings. At my past position in community mental health with the Hamilton Center Inc, I worked with consumers dealing with a variety of mental health concerns and facilitated a relapse prevention group and adolescent art therapy group. I completed an art therapy and mental health counseling internship at the IU Health Neuroscience Center, during which I provided art therapy to clients with neurological conditions. In my position as a Skills Development Specialist and Activity Therapist at Valle Vista Health Systems, I helped groups of patients with severe mental illnesses and substance use disorders to practice coping skills through art-making and other activities. In my past position as a tutor in the BUILD (Baccalaureate for University of Indianapolis Learning Disabled) Program, I supported students with learning disabilities like ADHD and autism to manage the stress of college classes. Previously, I worked at UPaint Pottery Studio helping customers create ceramic artwork and express themselves. My other experiences are in childcare, live wedding painting, and customer service. During my undergraduate career, I studied art and the social and behavioral sciences, became a member of Psi Chi (International Honor Society in Psychology), received scholarships and honors, and was active in volunteer work and college organizations. I work with a variety of art mediums and showcase in gallery exhibitions. Some sample skills I possess are communication, time management, and work ethic.
