WORK HISTORY
Library Services Intern @Charleston Library Society
Charleston, SC, US
At one of the South’s oldest cultural institutions, I support both public-facing services and behind-the-scenes archival work. I handle rare manuscripts, letters, and historical records to assist with collection organization and research access. As part of a major digitization and transcription project, I helped preserve 19th-century police and tax records, making them accessible to researchers and the public. I help manage the circulation desk by processing checkouts and returns, signing up new members, and engaging visitors in the library’s mission and programs. I also assist with event preparation and execution, including space setup, guest greeting, and Q&A facilitation. When needed, I lead children’s story hour, combining interactive readings with hands-on crafts. In addition, I create social media content, publish event information on local publication calendars, and enhance the library’s SEO strategy to increase the visibility of its programs and historic collections. This multifaceted role blends archival work, community outreach, and strategic marketing in a dynamic nonprofit setting.
