About Hannah Downing
When I graduated from the University of Florida in 2010, I didn’t yet understand the scale of educational inequity in our country. After joining Teach For America and teaching sixth grade English in Jacksonville, I saw firsthand how opportunity gaps shape life outcomes—and I knew I wanted to be part of the solution.After five years in the classroom, I shifted into recruitment to broaden my impact. Today, I lead recruitment strategy for Teach For America’s Southeast hub, overseeing multi-state talent pipelines and developing leaders who recruit and support mission-driven educators.I’m passionate about building systems and teams that expand access to excellent teaching—because strong talent is the foundation of long-term change. I’m proud to lead a team that brings hundreds of corps members into classrooms each year, and I’m committed to strengthening the pipeline of leaders who will continue driving educational equity throughout their careers.
