About Hanna Dettki
I’m a dual Master’s student in Psychology at NYU (Fulbright Scholar) and Computer Science at the University of Tübingen (Germany), with a background in cognitive science, machine learning, and software engineering. My work sits at the intersection of human and artificial intelligence — from modeling causal reasoning in large language models to building tools for visual perception research. I’ve developed probabilistic time-series models, finetuned deep neural networks, and contributed to open-source libraries like Plenoptic. I’ve also worked in corporate R&D at Mercedes-Benz, contributing to driver interaction systems and autonomous vehicle research. It gave me early exposure to production-level software and interdisciplinary collaboration — experience that continues to shape how I approach projects. Alongside technical work, I’ve learned and collaborated across diverse cultures and contexts — from research labs to open-source communities to corporate teams. Studying in Europe, Asia, and North America has shaped how I think about problem-solving and communication. At NYU, I founded the Cognitive Science Club, creating a space for students in psychology, neuroscience, and computer science to explore how minds — biological and artificial — make sense of the world. I’m especially energized by teams where diverse perspectives meet to build smarter, more human-centered systems. Outside of work, I love learning languages and exploring the world on two wheels. I’ve completed solo bikepacking tours across Asia, Europe, and the Pacific Coast of the U.S, and bring that same spirit of curiosity, persistence, and adaptability to my professional life. I’m currently exploring opportunities in:* Data Science & Machine Learning * AI Consulting & Digital Transformation * Applied Research in Human-Centered AI Let’s connect if you’re working at the intersection of AI, behavior, and impact — or looking for someone who bridges technical depth with human understanding, and theory with practice.
