ABOUT HANA MILANOV
I am a Professor of Entrepreneurship at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), where I am also an academic director of the EMBA in Innovation and Business Creation, and a member of the Board of Center for Digital Technology and Management I have served on the TUM Board of Management as a Senior Vice President For International Alliances And Alumni from 2014 till 2017, and as member of the EU Horizon 2020 Advisory Committee for Future Emerging Technologies (2015). In 2023, I was honoured to be recognised among Germany\'s 20 top professors supporting entrepreneurship I act as an associate editor in Journal of Business Venturing Insights. My research interests lie in understanding how entrepreneurs effectively acquire resources and how this influences opportunity exploitation and final performance at home and abroad, with an increasing focus on gender dynamics. The research contexts I studied are varied and range from venture capital, public family firms, high technology companies, crowdfunding, and microentrepreneurs across different countries. My work was published in Strategic Management Journal, Journal of Business Venturing, Entrepreneurship Theory & Practice, Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal, Journal of Business Ethics, Academy of Management Perspectives, Journal of Business Venturing Insights, and Industrial and Corporate Change. I am passionate about teaching and working with entrepreneurial individuals and teams, and enjoy designing new teaching materials. Relying on a diverse set of teaching approaches, I encourage interactive and experience-based learning with the final goal of developing students’ critical and creative thinking skills, contributing to a development of an entrepreneurial mindset and confidence. I am experienced in teaching undergraduate, MBA, Masters, Executive MBA and PhD programs across different countries (Australia, Croatia, Germany, Spain, and USA), and work with corporate clients as well in developing their employees (e.g. Siemens) or entrepreneurs (e.g. Deutsche Börse). I received multiple awards for my research and teaching in different contexts. Prior to joining TUM’s Faculty, I was an entrepreneurship professor at IE Business School, where I continue to teach as a Visiting Faculty.
