About Hana Matuszewski
I am a first-year master’s student in Environmental Science and Management at the University of Rhode Island, where I also recently earned my bachelor’s degree from the College of the Environment and Life Sciences. My master’s studies focus on Environmental Communications, which allows me to combine my scientific background with the skills needed to effectively convey complex environmental issues to diverse audiences.Throughout my education, I have developed experience in laboratory techniques, data collection and analysis, environmental hazard response, GIS, Excel, environmental policy, wildlife handling, and broader areas of environmental science. As I continue my graduate work, I aim to deepen my knowledge in coastal zone management, flood risk assessment, GIS mapping, and strategies for enhancing coastal and community resilience.Looking ahead, I am interested in pursuing a career in environmental emergency management, with a particular focus on risk reduction, mitigation, and preparedness. With special interest in crisis communication, outreach and furthering conversations about environmental hazards.
