About Rizwan Hamid
Leading with compassion, collaboration, and innovation to improve patient care and advance the field of genetics and genomics.\"As the Dorothy Overall Wells Professor of Pediatrics, Director of the Division of Medical Genetics and Genomic Medicine, and Principal Investigator of the Vanderbilt Undiagnosed Disease Program, I am honored to be a part of the dedicated team at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. With a background in clinical genetics, pediatrics, and medical biochemical genetics and a NIH funded physician scientist, I have a unique perspective on the field of genetics and genomics.Over the last 5 years, I have successfully expanded the division faculty, genetic counseling team, and nurse practitioner team, and have improved patient access by devising a novel way to use genetic counselors and nurse practitioners in clinic. I have also devised and implemented a campus-wide eConsult service that allows physicians to get quick answers to genetic questions and thus improve patient care. Additionally, I have expanded our Undiagnosed Disease program.I believe in a collaborative approach where our division serves to enhance the larger departmental and institutional mission. My leadership motto is leading with compassion, collaboration, and innovation to improve patient care and advance the field of genetics and genomics. I am dedicated to fostering an environment that encourages teamwork, communication, and creativity to benefit our patients, colleagues, and the community.I am open to connecting with others on LinkedIn and am always interested in discussing opportunities for collaboration and growth in the field of genetics and genomics.
