ABOUT HAMID ATIGHECHI

I joined Powerex early in 2021 as the Senior Manager of the Inter-Utility Coordination and Transmission Planning team. In this role, my main focus is on identifying existing or future transmission access issues in the markets that Powerex is trading (the entire WECC area) and trying to resolve them by collaborating with other utilities and stakeholders. Prior to Powerex, I was the head of the EV Infrastructure group at Powertech Labs, BC Hydro’s R&D and consulting subsidiary. I began my engineering career with BC Hydro in 2013 in BC Hydro’s Transmission Planning Department. I graduated in 2013 with a Ph.D. from the University of British Columbia, majoring in Power Systems with a special focus on modeling and stability of the grid. I am a Senior Member of I hold a Certificate in Business Management from Simon Fraser University (SFU) and am registered as a Professional Engineer (PEng) in BC and a Certified Project Management Professional (PMP).
