ABOUT MORGAN HALL
I apply both my teaching skills and the business skills I honed as a management consultant to improve opportunities for youth.Currently, I am an Assistant Principal for Math at Powell Bilingual Elementary School within the District of Columbia Public Schools. Powell was highlighted as a \"Bright Spot for Math Growth\" for 2023-24! I trained for educational leadership in DCPS as a Mary Jane Patterson Fellowship at Brightwood Education Campus and H.D.Cooke Elementary School, as well as Simon summer school. I’ve also worked at Seaton Elementary and Columbia Heights Educational Campus.I started my career as a teacher for the New York City public schools. Over six years, I taught across all subjects between grades 6 and 10. I was one of the founding teachers of a small, public secondary school, participating in crafting the school mission and developing capacity, such as by devising, planning, fund-raising for, and carrying out an overnight camping trip and a service-learning trip to Morocco. At that school, I also served as a coach for other teachers. In addition to classroom teaching, I was an adjunct professor in education at the New York University Steinhardt School. After earning my MBA at the Yale School of Management, I joined the international management consulting firm, Boston Consulting Group. At BCG, I planned and facilitated change across industries including education technology, transportation, insurance, consumer goods, and healthcare.I returned to the NYCDOE from the private sector to lead a team working with teachers, schools, and expert partners to develop Common Core-aligned performance assessments and rubrics for use as part of New York City\'s teacher evaluation and development system. I have also served as the Deputy Chief of Assessments and Instructional Data for DCPS and Executive Director of School Performance at the Cleveland Metropolitan School District. I wrote my thesis on, and have a particular interest in the role of after-school and extended time education.
