Following the tragic loss of Matt Ratana — a much-loved grassroots rugby coach and dedicated police officer — The Matt Ratana Rugby Foundation was established to honour his legacy and use rugby as a force for positive change in young people’s lives.After the privilege of playing in the Foundation’s first two memorial matches, I now serve as Team Manager for the Matt Ratana Marauders. In this role, I lead the selection and recruitment of players for fixtures against other charity and representative sides, including the England Police Rugby XV and Help for Heroes.Our backroom team features some of rugby’s most respected names, including Dean Richards, Danny Grewcock, Matt Salter, Harry Roberts, Tim Stimpson, and Callum Braley — all united by a shared belief in rugby’s power to inspire.Having played the game since the age of five, I’ve built a strong, trusted network across all levels — from grassroots clubs to international caps. Rugby’s unique sense of family means that when players are asked to support a cause as meaningful as this, the answer is always “yes.”
