ABOUT HALLA A.

Hello! I\'m Halla Albukhaiti, and I\'m currently pursuing a bachelor\'s degree in Economics and Political Science at Macaulay Honors College and John Jay College (CUNY), with a focus on legal and policy studies. I currently work for the Vera Institute of Justice with the Redefining Public Safety Initiative, where I contribute to reforming the policing system!Previously, I interned at the New York State Senate for Senator Kevin S. Parker and drafted my own bill that focused on preventing cross-contamination between halal-certified foods and non-halal foods. Other experiences include my time as a Student Mediator at the New York State Attorney General\'s Office, where efforts supported consumer protection and improved mediation processes.I\'m also passionate about being involved in my college community, serving as President of the Muslim Student Association and a Senior Representative on the Student Council. I truly believe in serving the student body and being a form of representation as a Muslim woman. I’m determined to make meaningful change in every space I’m part of, and I look forward to connecting with others who share that passion.
