About Halima Lucas
Halima Lucas is an LA-based writer/director from Stockton, California. Her short, Amelia’s Closet became a finalist for the 43rd Student Academy Awards and also won the 2017 American Black Film Festival HBO Short Film Award. Following the success of her film, Halima was selected for Ryan Murphy\'s Half Initiative TV Director Shadowing program, as well as the Break The Room fellowship, where she helped develop and write the webseries East of La Brea, which was produced by Paul Feig’s Powderkeg, premiered at SXSW in 2019, and won at UrbanWorld Film Festival. She was then selected for the 20••••19 Nickelodeon Writing Program and ultimately landed a development deal on a live-action project. Currently, she’s an Associate Story Editor on Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, and continues to develop shows and continues to develop projects that both make people laugh while amplifying voices from marginalized communities - the most recent being a short film called Plan LMNOP, made through the Ghetto Film School, Endeavor, and Deutsche Bank’s Frieze LA fellowship.Recent Film - free to check out some of her directorial work on Vimeo: https://vimeo.com/halimalucas

Currently a Story Editor/Producer on Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur. Support the development and sculpting of scope and arc of show seasons, story edit at all stages of story from premise to outline to script while also being in writing rotation, culturally consult and creatively collaborate on show designs, wrote original lyrics on numerous songs including opening title, instrumental in shaping voice of show and lead character, provide feedback on consumer product and marketing material, mentor and train apprentice and staff writers, streamline scheduling and work pipeline process to maintain production deadlines, informed hiring and personnel decisions/management for the writer\'s room, collaborated with external partners such as multi-platform, casting, marketing, animating studios, consumer products, and music.
