The California Climate Action Corps—the nation’s first state-level, climate-focused service program launched by California Volunteers under the Office of the Governor—empowers emerging leaders to mobilize local communities through volunteer engagement, climate action, and education.As a Climate Conservation Fellow, I support urban greening initiatives through ecological landscaping programs that promote water conservation and native California plants. These efforts increase biodiversity, reduce water usage, and help homeowners create drought-tolerant gardens across Long Beach.Coming from a background in ecological restoration and social work, this fellowship has strengthened my skills in community outreach, GIS mapping, and environmental education. Through my service, I’ve learned how to engage diverse communities in climate action and advance environmental and social justice by improving access to sustainable resources in underserved areas.
