About Haley Mull
When I was sixteen, I dreamt of double majoring in quantum physics and fashion. Yes, this combination may have been impractical, but at the time, it was the only thing I knew that could combine my love of both math and art. Luckily, I was able to find a more practical subject with an emphasis on data and visualization: economics. At Miami University, I began a four-year study of economics that eventually evolved into both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in the subject. During my undergrad studies, I completed the Farmer School of Business’ core curriculum and studied abroad in Luxembourg at Miami’s own campus, MUDEC. I participated in my residence hall’s community leadership team, served on the executive board for Women in Economics each year, and created my own tutoring business powered solely through word of mouth. Senior year I began work for my Master’s in Economics. While taking master’s courses, I researched, wrote, and successfully defended my thesis on the history of Medicaid’s adoption and the evolution of cross-state variation in Medicaid eligibility. Additionally, I was able to further my coding skills with an elective on using R to solve economic problems and through starting a Coursera specialization in R. I am so excited to continue my journey with programming and make an impact on consumers’ lives as I start my first full-time job at 84.51º.
