About Haley Nickel

As a recent graduate of Northeastern University with a degree in marine biology and data science, I am deeply interested in the biological and physical processes that shape coastal ecosystems, with particular emphasis on the intersection of biogeochemistry and microbial ecology. Equipped with a strong background in environmental data analysis, field data collection, and science communication, I am passionate about joining a team working to understand global oceanic change and conserve marine and coastal habitats.Currently, I am a high school teacher in Miami-Dade County Public Schools, where I seek to cultivate this same interest in the ocean to students in my Honors Marine Science II classes. My goal is to help students not only understand the marine environment and the life it supports, but feel the same sense of curiosity, agency, and responsibility that research and my own educational and research experiences have given me.
