ABOUT HAJAR OUAHBI
Currently based in Paris, I am a journalist and filmmaker working with ARTE, the French-German national TV channel. As part of their show Tracks, I produce short documentaries exploring subcultures and underground communities, delving into the worlds that challenge mainstream narratives. Previously, I contributed to Le Bondy Blog, an award-winning media spotlighting social issues in France\'s suburbs, and to Dune Magazine, where I explored North African creations and their representation. My career began at France 24, where I covered breaking news spanning Africa to North America. In addition to my journalistic work, I directed an independent documentary between Turkey and Egypt, focusing on community resilience during the COVID-19 pandemic. This project earned recognition with an award from the UNESCO Center for Peace. In 2021, I founded ARTSCHIVES, a collective committed to showcasing diasporic narratives as a catalyst for social change. Through exhibitions, film screenings, and residencies, ARTSCHIVES fosters artistic and educational programming that bridges cultures and amplifies marginalized voices. Rooted in my Moroccan heritage, my journey has taken me across Italy, France, and the United States, shaping my global perspective. I studied Political Science and Development Studies at La Sorbonne and later deepened my knowledge of journalism at the Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute at NYU.
