I am currently a Bepko Scholar at Indiana University, Indianapolis, pursuing a double major in Finance and Management at the Kelley School of Business through the Honors Program.As a first-generation and financially independent college student, I have been driven by one goal: to build a better future for myself. Growing up, I learned the value of hard work, resilience, and persistence at an early age, encouraging me to pursue a college degree for financial stability. My pursuit of financial independence isn’t just personal, as it’s what inspired my passion for finance. Understanding how money works, its importance to businesses and individuals, and how daily financial decisions can affect lives motivates me to learn more about impact.Throughout my first year at IU, I have held three leadership roles in on-campus organizations, while consistently working 20-30 hours a week, maintaining my academic excellence, and volunteering within my community. Balancing academics, leadership, and part-time work has taught me the importance of discipline, diligence, time management, and attention to detail, which are skills I hope to bring into the industry.To me, being able to pursue higher education is a privilege, and because of this, I plan to take advantage of every opportunity I can. I’m excited to continue developing my skills within the finance and business fields while connecting with mentors and professionals who share the belief that dedication and discipline can set you apart and open doors to new opportunities.
