About Hailee Janousek

Throughout my years of school, I have fallen in love with math. There is something so satisfying about determining the correct formula and then solving all the way through to get to the answer. As my favorite subject has continued to get more challenging, I have learned to love my calculator. My closest friends have seen me pull my calculator out of my purse at the most random times to do quick calculations. My love for math is what has brought me up the actuary and finance paths.I have been able to apply my passion for math in my experiences as a finance intern and as an actuarial intern. At Lutz, I was able to calculate the effects of various possible solutions for clients\' investment accounts and analyze them to choose the best solution. At Milliman, I helped companies make sure they were on the right track in financing their pension plans. At Markel, I work on a variety of projects to properly price and reserve different product lines. I am excited to continue applying my math skills in my future positions.I could not live my entire life only doing math problems, however; I also need a form of social engagement. This is another passion of mine: meeting new people and creating meaningful relationships. I enjoy situations in which I get to build new connections and strengthen existing ones. This is one of the reasons I joined a sorority as well as one of the main reasons I enjoy attending networking events. The idea of utilizing my technical and social skills together in my future career excites me and provides me confidence in being able to add value to a company while maintaining happiness throughout my professional experiences.
