Develop, maintain, and manage the overall academic and clinical financial process for the Department of Family Medicine.• Prepare and negotiate up to $65 MM annual budgets and expenditures for 5 restricted and 3 unrestricted funding streams for the Department.• Preparation of financial forecast, cost-benefit analysis, detailed variance analysis, and other types of financial and data analysis as requested by department operations and other associated business units.• Coordination of the Department budgets, review and approval, and budget variance analysis as required.• Responsible for auditing, creating and preparing quarterly financial statements and reports for external and internal audiences for 5 different funds.• Prepare Finance team lead to prepare and implement Governance, Terms of Reference, policies and procedures and guidelines for the Finance and Clinic teams.• Manage, create, and report department activity to internal and external audiences.• Present and prepare recommendations, briefings, and reports for senior executive leaders by chairing two monthly Finance and Workforce Committee meetings and other required meetings.• Responsible for daily management of the 5 funds, including coordinating AR & AP transactions, generating, updating, and tracking physicians’ contracts, and ensuring accountabilities are met.• Establish KPIs for the Finance team & recommend viable solutions to increase the efficiency of the outside payment process.• Responsible for evaluating the department’s internal & external environment analyses such as SWOT & PESTEL.• Responsible for evaluating the risk management process to manage the trade-off between potential opportunities & their adverse effects on the department.• Timely preparation & submission of government funding requests require direct liaison with Alberta Health Services, the University of Calgary, AH (Government) & other key stakeholders.• Establish & maintain financial controls and accounting procedures.
