ABOUT HADDON MURRAY
I am a partner in the Toronto office of Gowling WLG, practising in the areas of commercial litigation and restructuring and insolvency law.Commercial Litigation:My commercial litigation practice focuses on complex commercial disputes, involving contract disputes, P3 arbitrations, oppression claims, professional negligence, and class proceedings. I work with clients across a diverse range of industries, including Financial Services, Logistics and Infrastructure.I have appeared extensively before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice - Commercial List and the Ontario Court of Appeal. I also have substantial experience representing clients through a variety of alternative dispute resolution proceedings, including private arbitration and mediation proceedings. Restructuring and Insolvency:I am one of the principal litigators in Gowling WLG’s Restructuring and Insolvency Group. I regularly represent banks, credit unions, court officers, debtor corporations and directors in contested aspects of creditor enforcement and restructuring proceedings, including:• CCAA applications (including creditor initiated CCAA filings and competing CCAA and Receivership applications), • Claims processes;• Cross-border insolvency proceedings (including recognition proceedings under Part IV of the CCAA);• DIP loan approval motions;• Priority disputes; and• Receivership applications.In addition, I advise stakeholders of all kinds in connection with all contested aspects of enforcement and restructuring proceedings as well as out-of-court insolvency and restructuring issues. I work to ensure that his clients are positioned to maximize their leverage and obtain the best possible negotiated solution or judicial determination.I was previously an avid rugby player, but my surgeon is now quite emphatic that I am retired.
