ABOUT HADAR DANCIG-ROSENBERG

I\'m a Professor of Law and former Associate Dean for Research at the Bar-Ilan University Faculty of Law. I\'m currently the Helen Diller Visiting Professor at UC Berkeley Law (20••••23) and an Affiliate at the Center for the Study of Law and Society. I\'m the co-founder and co-chair of the Israeli Criminal Law Association. My areas of expertise include criminal law and procedure, with a focus on the philosophy of criminal law, criminal justice reform and alternatives to punitive justice, therapeutic jurisprudence, and the interface between criminal law and gender. In the last few years I\'ve been looking at non-adversarial, community-based, and non-punitive justice mechanisms in various legal systems. As part of it, I\'m currently a co-PI of a few empirical projects, including- A study on stakeholders\' perceptions of success and well-being at the Red Hook Community Justice Center in New-York City- A study on how system-impacted individuals make a difference in one of San Francisco’s abolitionist initiatives- A study on the role of social media as an alternative setting for seeking justice for sexual assault victims- The first evaluation study on community courts in Israel- An observational study on the promise and pitfalls of virtual courts as a platform of criminal justice-making. In the last decade I\'ve been serving as a permanent member of the Advisory Committee for the Israeli Minister of Justice on Criminal Procedure and Evidence Law. I also served as a member of the Advisory Committee for the Israeli Minister of Justice on Formulating Measures to Protect the Public Against Cyberbullying. Before joining Bar-Ilan I served as the Academic Director of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem Legal Clinic for Violence Against Women.
