ABOUT MATT ALEXANDER

Dr. Alexander has authoured several papers published in international peer-reviewed scientific journals relating to his areas of expertise and was named one of New Brunswick’s 21 Leaders for the 21st Century in 2008. Dr. Alexander is currently registered as a Professional Geoscientist in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia and is registered as an Environmental Professional with the Canadian Environmental Certification Approvals Board.Since joining Fundy Engineering in May 2005, he has worked on many projects including: assessing the quality of water supplied to RCMP facilities across Prince Edward Island and potential threats to the water supplies; environmental impact assessment, permitting, monitoring, and compliance for portions of the $750 million (USD) CanaportTM LNGLP Marine Terminal and Multi-Purpose Pier Project, the first in eastern North America to be developed; environmental impact assessment, permitting, monitoring, and compliance for the Red Head Secondary Access Road and the CanaportTM LNGLP Emergency Access Road; oversight of the involvement of derelict lobster traps ghost fishing in areas of Saint John Harbour; laboratory analysis and design of a low-cost ex situ treatment for hexavalent contaminated groundwater; environmental impact assessment and permitting for the qplexTM development in Quispamsis, a multi-purpose recreation and conference centre that features some of the most progressive green building initiatives in the region; and the development of a paper on considerations for responsible gas development of the Frederick Brook Shale in New Brunswick in order to inform the dialogue on best regulatory practices and royalty regimes.Specialties: hydrogeology, numerical modelling, risk-based assessments of complex contaminated groundwater regimes, environmental impact assessments, permitting, monitoring, and compliance, and environmental research.
