ABOUT GEORG ZELLMER FGS

Georg F. Zellmer received his PhD from the Open University, UK, in and subsequently worked as research fellow at the University of Bristol (UK), the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory of Columbia University (USA), the University of Hawaii at Manoa (USA), and Academia Sinica (Taipei). In 2013, he was appointed to Massey University, New Zealand, where he worked as Professor in Earth and Planetary Sciences until 2025. He then took the position of Chair in Petrology at the University of Bonn, Germany. Georg\'s work focuses on timescales of petrogenetic processes and volatiles in subduction zones. At present, he also devotes some time to integrating geochemical and geophysical tools to aid volcanic hazard mitigation, and to elucidate the thermal structure of the crust through studying plutonic rocks. Georg Zellmer is Executive Editor of the Journal of Petrology.
