SkilledTradesBC leads and coordinates British Columbia’s skilled trades system. We work with employers, employees, industry, labour, training providers and government to issue credentials, manage apprenticeships, set program standards, and increase opportunities in the trades. We support more than apprentices and over employer sponsors.As the manager of the Program Standards team, my primary responsibility is to oversee the team that works with our industry partners to set the standards for the delivery of trades training across BC. My team of 15 Program Development Officers, and Exam Maintenance Officers, manages annual updates for approximately 100 trade programs and related certification exams each year, to enable training institutions to provide the most relevant training possible.Primary responsibilities include- Ensuring that updates to program and exam content meets the needs of industry through rigorous stakeholder consultation and quality assurance- Managing the significant team workload via a comprehensive workplan, to ensure that programs and exams are updated and maintained on time and within budget- Regularly reviewing process workflows and constantly looking for more efficient ways to work, including digital tools and automation- Overseeing the management of 10-15 departmental projects annually via the application of standard project management methodologies to drive projects to completion
