ABOUT GWYNETH VANCE AUSTIN

I specialize in the collection and analysis of data to answer key questions and support decision-making. I have 15 years of post-degree experience in operations research, monitoring and evaluation, and disease surveillance primarily related to global health and development. This has involved managing research projects, writing and developing study protocols, designing data collection systems and tools, coordinating data collection and quality improvement efforts, training and overseeing data collectors, obtaining ethical approvals, analyzing data, and summarizing study findings and analyses through presentations, reports and published manuscripts. I have also provided technical and capacity-building support for developing country programs and staff. Previous positions, consultancies, and affiliations have been with FHI 360 (formerly Family Health International), UNICEF, Helen Keller International, the US Air Force, Tulane University, and the National Network of Public Health Institutes. I have worked in Kenya, Tanzania, Ghana, Zambia, Nigeria, Nepal, and Indonesia.
