About George Abbey
I bridge aerospace systems, government program architecture, and international collaboration to translate advanced technical capabilities into fundable, operational realities. My work is grounded in a simple observation:Spaceflight does not succeed through engineering alone—it succeeds through institutions that can manage risk, integrate systems, and sustain partnerships.Early in my career, supporting NASA’s Consolidated Space Operations Contract (CSOC), I engaged with global TT & C infrastructure across the GN, SN, and DSN—enabling Shuttle, ISS, and planetary missions. It was there that I came to understand how space missions are made possible—not just through vehicles and payloads, but through communications, coordination, and program integration.Following the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster, I founded Strategic Space Services (S3) to focus on the institutional challenges that determine mission success—particularly in transitioning advanced technologies into operational systems.I align next-generation aerospace capabilities with U.S. and allied program pathways, including CRADAs with AFRL and NRL, supporting SABRE and hypersonic TBCC systems.I co-authored a forthcoming Acta Astronautica publication on risk governance and thresholds across Shuttle, ISS, Commercial Crew, and Artemis programs.Across Strategic Space Services, Reaction Engines, and international roles, I operate at the seam between engineering innovation and execution—ensuring technology aligns with policy, procurement, safety frameworks, and long-term sustainability.I bring a systems-level perspective shaped by modern spaceflight and engage where integrating technology, institutions, and international partners is essential to the success of executable programs.
Experience
Customer Service Agent
Jul 2024 — Present
After relocating from Houston to Austin in 2024 following the passing of both of my parents, whom I had been helping care for during their final years, I joined Southwest Airlines in a part-time operational role at AUS.Working in a frontline airport environment has provided valuable perspective on airline operations, passenger experience, and the complex coordination required to keep modern aviation systems running safely and efficiently.During this period I have continued my broader engagement in aerospace strategy, international collaboration, and emerging space-sector initiatives.
