ABOUT GWEN DOMINGUEZ
I am a passionate, driven honors student studying Public Policy and Latin American and Caribbean studies at the University at Albany. My interest in public policy arose growing up in my working-class community of Port Chester, New York, and continues to drive my desire to study government and pursue a career in advocacy. I have experience in legislative work, research, constituent services, and grassroots organizing, and my goal is to contribute to impactful change that advances equity for underrepresented communities like my own. As a student leader of Democracy Matters, I organize civic engagement initiatives and student-empowering events that have deepened my passion for social justice. Through facilitating meetings with lobby groups and assisting with legislative and communications tasks as an intern for Assemblymember Jessica González-Rojas, I gained firsthand insight into how advocacy and community organizing shape public policy. Serving as a Research Assistant for the Governance and Digital Experience lab, I have strengthened my quantitative analysis and research writing skills while gaining a deeper understanding of evidence-based decision-making. I am currently seeking full-time internship opportunities in public policy, advocacy, or research, where I can continue growing as a public policy student and advocate.
