ABOUT GUZMAN DE YARZA

I have developed my professional activity in three conceptually and organically connected fields: workplace consultancy, architecture, and academia.I am currently Global Design Strategy Lead at JLL Design, a 700-strong design practice with more than 60 studios in 28 countries. We are one of the Top 20 Interior Design Firms in the industry, focused mainly on Workplace and Retail Design.Before joining JLL, I was one of the four founders of the award-winning architectural firm J1Arquitectos, based in Madrid. At J1Arquitectos, I was involved in designing residential and commercial buildings, educational facilities, and other typologies, including interior design and master planning.Some of our works were awarded and published internationally in media outlets such as Arquitectura Viva, The Phaidon Atlas of World Architecture, C3 (Korea), Dezeen, and Architizer, among other online and offline magazines.As a scholar, I served for eight years (20••••20) as the Academic Director of the Master in Strategic Design of Spaces at the IE School of Architecture and Design. This international graduate program, designed in partnership with the Royal College of Art in London, educates professionals in design strategies that create spaces fostering change and innovation.I obtained my PhD from the Polytechnic School of Madrid in February 2016, with the thesis \"José de Yarza García, European links within Spanish peripheral modernity,\" which was awarded Cum Laude.\"
