About Guy Horton
I work with visionary teams to drive innovation, tell transformative stories, and build movements that shape a better future. As a research and design leader at Wondros for over a decade, I drew on my background in the humanities, journalism, and human-centered design to help clients amplify missions, spark engagement, and drive lasting change through innovative storytelling, and best-in-class digital and real-world experiences. I also helped manage and shape the research department. As a business development leader, I led strategy and writing for winning competitive RFPs and proposals. The tools, processes, and ways of working I developed brought structure and efficiency to BD operations and helped secure ~$200M in contracts. I also thoughtfully integrated AI to amplify creativity, efficiency, and results. This mix of strategic rigor, innovation, and smart AI use boosted the quality, speed, and competitiveness of proposals and delivery. My strategic thinking, writing, and precision were key to securing and delivering large, complex federal and state communications, marketing, brand strategy, and program development initiatives. Highlights include the National Institutes of Health All of Us Research Program, University of Pittsburgh CTSI, Song for Charlie (fentanyl awareness), California Department of Health Care Access and Information, and California Office of Planning and Research. My PR experience was key to elevating the company’s brand/thought leadership, managing the news section of the website with relevant and SEO-optimized content to attract new clients. As a journalist, I developed a distinctive voice shaped by design, humanities, and years abroad. I founded The Indicator on ArchDaily.com, a blog on the culture, politics, and business of design and architecture, and contributed to The Architect’s Newspaper and Metropolis Magazine, serving as contributing editor and features writer. My work also appeared in The Atlantic’s CityLab, The Huffington Post, Architectural Record, Architect Magazine, GOOD Magazine, Archinect.com, Curbed.com, Architecture Asia, Grand Tour Magazine, and Contract Magazine. I contributed design journalism to KCRW’s DnA: Design and Architecture, hosted by Frances Anderton.Having lived many years in China and Japan, I am fluent and literate in Mandarin Chinese and Japanese. I am also a dedicated practitioner and teacher of kung fu and tai chi—arts I’ve studied for 40+ years—that instill focus, discipline, and precision in everything I do.
