About Guye Turner
As a product of DCPS, I am particularly focused on ensuring our young people in need are provided quality access to the education and social-emotional growth opportunities I have been fortunate to receive throughout my life.I have earned a reputation as a passionate, enthusiastic, innovative, results oriented administrator who regularly achieves success for our staff, families, and young scholars. I place a strong emphasis on shared leadership that builds capacity versus fixing problems. I pride myself on forming strong relationships that allow me to hold others accountable, identify gaps, and proactively plan ways to achieve solutions that not only solve the problem, but also promote growth of all involved. My resume includes many metrics that substantiate my ability to drive success. Principals are responsible for the safe keeping, student achievement and social emotional growth of large numbers of children. Nothing is more sacred than ensuring each school has the strongest possible team to lead the instructional, administrative and operational staff in the growth of our students, families and community. My attached Philosophy of Education covers my core management strategies honed through continuing education and experiences at two of the top schools in the Washington Metropolitan Area as it applies to leadership and commitment to life-long learning. These areas include: 1) Community and Culture, 2) Continuous Development and Growth Mindset, 3) Data Driven Strategy Loops, 4) Relationship and Capacity Building, 5) Shared Leadership, 6) Goal Setting & Accountability, 7) Academic and Social-Emotional Learning, 8) Intrinsic Motivation, and 9) Project Based Learning.
