ABOUT GUY POMPHREY
I am a Partner at Stewarts (based in Leeds) specialising in life-changing maximum-severity clinical negligence cases. I act for adults and children and have a wealth of experience across many sub-specialisms including: stroke, spinal, orthopaedic and fatal claims. I have particular and recognised expertise in child brain injury work including birth injuries, neonatal and paediatric cases. Within the last few years I have resolved a number of high-profile cases- £20 million for a child with severe cerebral palsy stemming from a delayed diagnosis of GBS meningitis- £14 million for a woman with a brain injury caused by a delayed diagnosis of a rare metabolic disorder (homocystinuria)- £12 million for a child with cerebral palsy caused by oxygen starvation as a result of a significant delay in his delivery- £1 million for a woman who suffered substandard orthopaedic treatment (to her hip) resulting in life-long disability- for a man with permanent loss of vision as a result of substandard ophthalmology and psychiatric treatment- for a woman who sustained avoidable bladder & bowel injuries due to substandard care during her child’s birth.Reflecting this experience, I a member of the AvMA Specialist Clinical Negligence Referral Panel and the Law Society\'s Clinical Negligence Accreditation Scheme. The legal directories rank me as a \"Next Generation Partner\"(Legal 500) and “Up and Coming” (Chambers & Partners) and in their most recent reviews they note- “Guy Pomphrey has all of the attributes to become very successful in the field. A top-notch lawyer, with real attention to the detail that matters, without sacrificing anything in terms of client care.” (Legal 500)- “Skilled in handling birth injury, orthopaedic and fatal accident matters.” (Legal 500)- “Very professional but still retains the ability to see me as an individual. He shows great kindness, understanding and patience.” (Chambers & Partners)- “He’s brilliant – really measured and well prepared – and he has excellent judgment.” (Chambers and Partners).I have worked as a claimant clinical negligence lawyer since qualification in 2011. I am passionate about my clients, access to justice and improving NHS care.Away from work, I have a young family and enjoy cycling, travel, books and motorsport.
