ABOUT GUY FISH

Guy Fish, MD, MBA, mission-driven to re-establish thriving communities utilizing health equity frameworks, is CEO of Codman Square Health Center. The impact of his 40 year career spans: international for-profit and nonprofit sectors from Wall Street and Venture Capital to solo-clinical practice; and from leading innovative companies to consulting to startups, government entities, hospitals, and Fortune 50 biotechs. As past President & CEO of Greater Lawrence Family Health Center (with 10 sites & Family Medicine Residency serving patients), Dr. Fish designed a strategic plan that, in 3 years: grew GLFHC’s 650 staff to 850; improved operations, patient services, and clinician satisfaction; turned a projected deficit into a record surplus; and increased revenues 55% to $100M+. In Fall 2023 upon reading of imminent Steward closures, Guy used his multi-stakeholder lens and business and healthcare acumen to craft an innovative community needs focused solution to the impending health equity crisis. Dr. Fish’s brainchild was later adapted into one of MA’s 1st viable, state approved frameworks for a small healthcare institution to acquire a bankrupt hospital. Initially an internist inspired to effect healthcare reform, Guy reinvented himself and became one of the 1st trailblazing MD/ MBA’s in 1994. He gained vast experience as a: BCG consultant; Wall Street sell-side analyst focused on healthcare innovation; and Sr. Executive/ Advisor for medtech, pharma, care delivery, and AI diagnostic firms. At FS Ventures & FSI, Fish’s market assessments and strategic council resulted in $4B+ in value creation in 10 years. He has served on 18+ boards including as current Vice Chair of MLCHC Government Affairs; Trustee of BIDMC; Chair of BIDMC’s Medical Education and Patient Care Committees; and Advisor to NACHC (Finance, Board Leadership, & Workforce) and the Eschelman Institute. Guy’s prior roles ranged from Chair of: Mass Medical Licensing Board, Dubai HealthCare Licensing Board, and Altarum Institute, to board seats at: Biocius Life Sci, Metabolon, and Proteus. Originally from Ohio, Dr. Fish earned a Harvard BA; Yale School of Medicine MD; Case Western Internal Medicine Residency; and Yale School of Management MBA (where he coined the concept “Accountable Care Organizations” in 1993). Fish received numerous honors (including Harvard’s Alumni Association Award for exceptional service & anti-racism initiatives), co-authored many patents, and ran 2 Boston Marathons. He and his wife raised 3 children, and are globally sought-after, multi-sector speakers and mentors.
