ABOUT GUY BAKER
I\'m a retired Detective with over 35 years of law enforcement experience at the Missoula Police Department, including 25 years as a investigator specializing in violent crimes. During the time I was a Detective, I was the Lead Investigator or Case Agent on over 1,200 state and federal criminal cases, including physical and sexual assaults, shootings, armed robberies, homicides and death investigations. Addionally, I served 16 years on the SWAT Team, exhibiting a sustained record of leadership, dependability and operational responsibility. During the last 15 years of my career, I was assigned to an FBI Safe Streets Task Force, focusing on identifying and prosecuting the region’s most serious and violent criminals. Within that role, I routinely worked gang violence, firearms offenses, drug conspiracies and sex trafficking. As an FBI Task Force Officer, I worked closely with other state and federal agencies and multi-jurisdictional partners on numerous complex and high-impact criminal cases. A large portion of my investigative work involved both adult and minor victims of sex trafficking and child exploitation. My cases resulted in many successful prosecutions in state and federal courts due to the effective partnerships I developed with prosecutors. I also served for over a decade with the United States Attorney\'s Office Human Trafficking Task Force, with a focus on victim-centered investigative strategies, while emphasizing long-term case development and offender accountability. In addition to my investigative work, I was a certified instructor through the Montana Law Enforcement Academy and a contracted presenter with the National Gang Center, instructing on various gang-related topics and sex trafficking investigations. I have presented extensively throughout Montana and provided specialized training in other states across the country. I have been Senior Vice President of the Northwest Gang Investigators Association for the last 27 years and a past President of the Montana Violent Crime Investigators Association, reflecting continuous leadership and peer trust within the law enforcement community. Now retired from law enforcement, I work as a private investigator while remaining committed to educating communities about the realities of sex trafficking. My decades of investigative experience, at both the local and federal level, allows me to offer valuable insight into how sex trafficking occurs in communities and the effective responses by the public and law enforcement in identifying and addressing sexual exploitation in their communities.
