About Gustavo Torres

I am a Senior Engineer on ComEd’s Distribution Standards team, where I help shape the future of our power distribution infrastructure. I develop and publish overhead construction standards and support engineers, line personnel, and contractors across the company by resolving technical inquiries related to the distribution system. Throughout my career, I’ve contributed to a wide range of projects, including 4kV–12kV conversions, Distribution Automation, AMI deployment, recloser programs, capacity planning, new business projects, and Fiber Optic Supply Cable (FOSC) design. My work and contributions in engineering earned me the ComEd Early Career Award in 2022. I’m passionate about mentorship and expanding access to STEM careers. I’ve taught Electricity 101 at ComEd’s Construct Youth Academy and Power Up Academy programs focused on building a diverse technical talent pipeline for Illinois’ clean energy future. I also recently served as a panelist for the launch of Ignite Your Future, a CPS ComEd City Colleges initiative supporting student career readiness. I currently serve as President of the Exelon Chapter of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) and remain active with the Organization of Latinos at Exelon (OLE). I’ve also held leadership roles within HACIA and represented ComEd/Exelon in McKinsey & Company’s Hispanic; Latino Leadership Essentials Program.In 2025, I was honored as one of Negocios Now’s 40 Under 40 Latinos in Chicago, recognizing the leadership accomplishments of young Latino leaders.
