ABOUT GURBIR THETHY

Gurbir has worked on cases within the insurance field for over 34 years. After more than 20 years in The City of London, he left his last position as a Director in the Complex Casualty and Major Injury Team at DWF London to become an independent Subject Matter Expert in the Legal and Insurance field. He has subsequently provided expert advice to global companies.His broad range of experience means that he brings innovative thinking and a tactical awareness, whilst maintaining a commercial awareness, which is much appreciated by his clients.Having previously worked at a number of firms doing both Claimant and Defendant work means he brings extensive tactical and strategic experience. After joining DWF\'s Large Loss and Catastrophic Injury team in London in 2011, he worked on some of the team\'s largest cases both in the UK and worldwide. Gurbir also has extensive experience of international and cross border litigation. He was the lead member of the DWF team on the ground in Sierra Leone over the course of 12 months in a case brought by 142 Sierra Leonean nationals against DWF\'s client, a mining company. The case made legal history, as this was the first time a British High Court Judge had ever sat as a Special Examiner in a foreign jurisdiction. The judgement handed down in December 2018 fully exonerated DWF\'s client. It is now one of the leading judgements on the liability of employers to third parties.He was a member of the Global D&I Leadership network at DWF. He was instrumental in the introduction of blind CV\'s to the business.
