ABOUT GÜL ECEM
Prior to entering METU, I studied in my senior year of high school in Zurich, Switzerland. The education language was in German, and this AFS Program has contributed significantly to my knowledge of the German language and Swiss culture. I started my major in City and Regional Planning in the Department of Architecture in 2014. My undergraduate study was conducted in English, and I attended an exchange program at the University of Manchester. Upon graduating from City and Regional Planning with an honor degree, I worked on a project called \'Building Communities through Volunteering\' in Baia Mare, Romania. In September 2020, I was accepted to Social Sciences (Turkish- German)(International Joint Program) Master\'s Degree Program at METU and Humboldt University of Berlin with the DAAD Scholarship. Currently, I am working as a consultant in Buro Happold Berlin office, doing a research on analysis, management and visualization of spatial data, especially in the areas of smart cities, housing, mobility, energy, sustainability, climate and economy and contributing to the development of local and web-based GIS platforms for existing neighborhoods, cities, and regions in Germany and abroad, as well as those in the planning stages.
