ABOUT GUI ALMEIDA

I love designing software and coding. There hasn\'t been a time in my life when computers did not fascinate me. I remember being 11 years old following instructions from a coursepack I borrowed from an older cousin. It walked me through building my own calculator app in Visual Basic 4. After that, I saved my lunch money to buy myself a copy of \"Visual Basic 6 Core Language\". I later learned Java by reading the manual for Borland’s JBuilder 6 when in between projects during my first internship. My interest never ceased to grow.I find inspiration in seeing small pieces of software working together to solve complex problems, making sense of the world by breaking it down into components, events, functions, and algorithms. Those first data points in your metrics after deploying thousands of lines of code you wrote across several packages are truly special. I have mostly used Java, Python, and JavaScript to build solutions in verifiable, iterative steps.Collaboration has been critical in all successful deliveries throughout my career. I\'ve helped design, build, and maintain distributed systems in Java; an entire stack of tools and frameworks for software testing in Python; and even mobile apps before smartphones. I am committed to continuing to listen, learn, share, and engage in designing solutions that elevate the whole team. I feel lucky to have been surrounded by brilliant mentors and peers. Working in tech has the huge advantage of rarely meeting people coming from the same path as us - and that is as enriching as it gets.
