Technical Leader of NPL’s research on electrochemical hydrogen technoloigies.o Developing best practice and international standards for measuring performance and durability of fuel cells and electrolysers.o Working with SMEs and multi-nationals to solve product challenges and develop their next generation of technologies.o Fundamental, exploratory scientific research.o Developing measurement technologies from TRL 0 to TRL6.Management of research groupo Line management responsibility for 6 professional scientists including recruitment, professional development.o Responsible for delivery of ca. £2.5M p.a. in research activities to time, cost, and quality.o Responsible for team budget, sales pipeline, laboratory infrastructure, HSES, quality compliance.Strategy development and stakeholder managemento Work across NPL and externally to influence and develop NPL’s and national hydrogen strategies. o Provide strategic and technical advice to stakeholders, national programmes on electrochemical hydrogen tech.o Represent NPL in national and international fora, including invited presentations, publications, conferences, peer-reviewing.o Convene events including: annual Industrial Advisory Group comprising 50+ representatives of UK’s hydrogen sector, alkaline electrolyser symposium to coordinate academia and industry.o Chair of BSI GEL 105 comittee on standards for fuel cells, UK expert on ISO TC197 and IEC TC105.o Co-supervision of PhD students at University of Strathclyde and Imperial College London.
