ABOUT GRÁINNE ONEIL

With over 18 years of leadership experience spanning higher education, EdTech, and data sectors, I have a proven track record of driving business change and innovation, scaling value solutions, and delivering measurable impact. Most recently, I led the learning discipline at The Open Data Institute (not for profit), founded by the inventor of the world wide web, Sir Tim Berners-Lee and global AI leader, Sir Nigel Shadbolt, overseeing the development of their first digital learning product portfolio. My tenure at ODI marked a transformative period where I expanded learning and training services beyond geographical borders, built a product-driven culture, and unlocked new revenue streams. As Head of Learning Product, I directed the full lifecycle of digital learning product development—from strategy to delivery—while embedding agile practices to ensure operational excellence. Collaborating with cross-disciplinary teams, I scaled impactful open linked data, data ethics and AI and data and analysis programs that reached global audiences B2B and B2C.Key accomplishments include:Leading the strategic shift from in-person to scalable blended and digital learning, breaking geographical barriers to accessibility.Designing and delivering high quality innovative products, tools and solutions aligned with market needs across industry sectors to include governments and global organisations, expanding revenue lines.Building and mentoring high-performing multi-disciplinary teams, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.Certified in agile methodologies (Scrum Product Owner, Scrum Master), I specialise in bridging strategic vision with tactical execution. My leadership style emphasises collaboration, adaptability, and a relentless focus on delivering value for both users and stakeholders.Previously, I honed my expertise across senior roles in a private joint venture, international higher education partnership business, which included driving efforts digital transformation, change management, employee training strategy for learning and development as well as student online programmes. I have led cross-functional teams including data scientists, developers, designers, trainers, and product owners, delivering impactful solutions.
