About Hannah Groch-Begley
At the Roosevelt Institute, I manage a team of researchers and oversee the Think Tank fellows program, while helping to shape overall research priorities for the organization. I have secured grant funding for a number of new initiatives, including founding the Disability Economic Policy Research Consortium in partnership with the National Academy of Social Insurance and creating a new Graduate Student fellowship to train humanities students on public policy. Previously, I led research programs at national progressive institutions studying reproductive rights, disability rights, and anti-poverty programs in the United States. At NARAL Pro-Choice America, I founded the organization’s first opposition research team, studying the tactics and strategies of the extremist antiabortion movement. I\'m an experienced project and team manager with a research-focused Ph.D. who excels at operational work, with success at the national level. I’ve briefed members of Congress and U.S. presidential campaigns, founded innovative research programs, and worked with stakeholders across national coalitions. I am particularly skilled at helping academics translate their research for non-academic audiences, and helping researchers stay on task in high-stakes environments.In addition to my research work, I am an IRS-certified advanced tax preparer with the VITA program, where I volunteer to provide free tax preparation assistance to low-income individuals in my community. I hold a PhD in history from Rutgers University and a BA from Vassar College.
