Booz Allen Hamilton’s Appeals contract team, in partnership with the Department of Veterans Affairs, creates and maintains software used by veteran law judges to intake veteran claims and process appeals.Most recently, my team and I have been building a new event-based data streaming application using Apache Kafka to allow veteran law judges to process appeals faster.Additionally, I have been a part of our effort to unblock veteran appeals which contain bad data by employing data remediation strategies individually and in batches, and have worked to modernize the application by performing a React version upgrade and refactoring to replace outdated librariesThroughout my time, I have worked closely with individuals both on my team and outside of it fostering a highly collaborative environment with a focus on pair programming, peer-to-peer code reviews, and internal, educational \"show and tell\" demos.
